How to Inject Pantone's 2019 Colour of the Year Into Your Home
‘Living Coral’ has been announced as Pantone’s Colour of the Year. A warm, uplifting shade, it couldn’t be any more different from 2018’s ‘Ultra Violet,’ (which wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea). Instead, it can be likened to ‘Millennial Pink,’ the shade that took the interiors industry by storm. We’re predicting big things for ‘Living Coral’ too.
With its gorgeous golden undertone, it is the perfect shade for those wanting something bolder than a pink but softer than a red. Work it into your bathroom, bedroom, living room or kitchen – it is a bright, yet somewhat mellow shade that will embellish the entire home, whether traditional or contemporary in design.
Do you fancy injecting a little ‘Living Coral’ into your living space? Take a look at some of our ideas below…
Bold Walls with Neutral Furnishings
Bold walls are set to be one of the biggest interior design trends for 2019, so why not make ‘Living Coral’ your colour of choice? The pop of colour will certainly brighten up your living spaces and add a warming glow. Modern rugs with a rustic finish and other neutral furnishings will compliment this peachy shade perfectly.
This Khayma Agadir 8677 Wadi Sands Rug by Louis De Poortere would look great paired with a ‘Living Coral’ wall. The taupe tone, tribal pattern and distressed areas of the modern rug offer a real rustic feel that will add character to your chosen space.
Alternatively, make a style statement in the home by contrasting a ‘Living Coral’ wall with one of our bright and bold modern rugs. Coral shades are often paired with nautical blues, so we think the Atlantic Surf 8486 Blue Waves Rug by Louis De Poortere would make a wonderful choice for those after a focal piece. This rug design has a true arty feel to it and would look fantastic in a contemporary children’s bedroom.
Modern Rugs in Living Coral
If you are looking for a more subtle way to inject Pantone’s colour of the year into your home, accessories like rugs, cushion covers and knitted throws are the answer.
Simply swapping the cushion covers in your living room can go a long way in transforming the overall look of your space. We also have a number of modern rugs in orange-toned shades that tie in with the colour of the year and instantly brighten up the home.
One of our favourite picks is the Khayma Farrago 8783 Rusty Orange Eye Rug by Louis De Poortere. Although slightly deeper in tone than ‘Living Coral,’ it will have the same brightening effect in your home, whilst also introducing a vintage vibe.
Vases, picture frames and ornaments
The idea of incorporating a new colour into your home can feel a little daunting, particularly if it’s a bold shade like ‘Living Coral.’ If you’re not yet brave enough to dive in with a perky peach wall, why not opt for a few small accessories like vases, picture frames and ornaments that feature the colour instead? Pops of ‘Living Coral’ will work particularly well in interiors with neutral shades, as well as blue and grey tones.
We hope our ideas have given you a little inspiration for injecting Pantone’s colour of the year into your home. We can’t wait to see how the shade is used and developed over the next twelve months.
